Deven Eastern
Minnesota
Scouting Report

Eastern is a long-armed, high-effort interior lineman who wins with quickness off the snap and relentless pursuit more than with refined technique or overwhelming power. He controls his gap, muddies running lanes, and plays with enough energy to be a disruptive run defender from a nose or shade alignment, though his pocket push as a pass rusher remains merely adequate at this stage. The lack of a developed pass-rush repertoire limits his upside to an early-down, rotational role barring a significant technical leap at the next level. There's a path to being a useful Day 1 contributor in a gap-heavy front that asks its nose tackle to eat blocks and spill runners — but asking him to win one-on-ones as a pass rusher against NFL-caliber guards will be a stretch without further development. The floor is a competitive camp body with legitimate NFL size; the ceiling is a 10-year rotational interior defender who earns snaps on the strength of his motor and length.

Pro ComparisonBilal Nichols

Similar body type (tall, long-armed interior defender), similar play style (wins with length and motor at the point of attack more than explosive athleticism), and similar draft pedigree as a Day 3 pick who developed into a useful rotational player.
