Gabe Jacas
Illinois
Scouting Report

Jacas is a throwback power rusher who collapses the pocket with a devastating bull rush and a relentless motor — he'll chase plays down from the backside like his jersey's on fire. His wrestling background gives him an innate feel for leverage and hand placement that most EDGEs spend years trying to develop, and his Senior Bowl dominance confirmed the traits hold up against NFL-caliber competition. The problem is that when the bull rush gets stonewalled, there's very little Plan B — his counter repertoire is paper-thin, his bend is below-average, and his run defense is a legitimate concern that got him pulled on key downs at Illinois. He projects as a high-floor rotational pass rusher who could carve out a 7-8 year career collapsing pockets in a power-based scheme, but the ceiling as a three-down starter requires significant technical development that may never come.

Pro ComparisonBryce Huff

Similar explosive-but-raw profile out of college — wins with speed-to-power conversion and violent hands but has limited counter moves and significant run defense concerns. Huff carved out a pass-rush specialist role with the Jets; Jacas has a slightly bigger frame that could allow for more three-down work if his run defense improves.
