Isaiah Nwokobia
SMU
Scouting Report

Nwokobia is a throwback box safety who processes information faster than he moves — his elite pre-snap recognition and play diagnosis allow him to consistently arrive at the ball despite an athletic profile that screams 'backup.' He's a violent downhill thumper in run support and a savvy zone coverage player who has racked up nine career interceptions by being in the right place at the right time, not by running past people. The hip stiffness and limited range that were manageable in college will get weaponized by NFL route-runners in man coverage, and the combine snub tells you everything about how the league views his physical ceiling. He's a reliable sub-package safety and a plus special teamer from Day 1, but teams that ask him to play single-high or match up with tight ends in space will be disappointed.

Pro ComparisonGeno Stone

Bleacher Report's Cory Giddings explicitly comped Nwokobia to Geno Stone — both are instinct-first, limited-athlete box safeties who create turnovers through anticipation and positioning rather than physical tools. Stone carved out an NFL role in Baltimore's zone-heavy scheme before fading when asked to do more, which maps directly to Nwokobia's projection.
