Matt Gulbin
Michigan State
Scouting Report

Gulbin is an old-school, phone-booth mauler who wins with sheer brute strength and an immovable anchor rather than any kind of athletic edge. His pass protection numbers were borderline untouchable in his one season at center — two sacks allowed across 400+ pass-blocking snaps — and when he locks his feet into the ground, NFL-caliber bull rushes simply do not move him. The concerns are real, though: limited lateral agility, one year of center experience, and a troubling tendency to misdiagnose stunts and blitz packages. He's a developmental Day 3 center who needs a year behind a veteran to learn the mental side of the position, but the power floor is legitimate and the positional versatility (guard and center) gives him a clear path to a roster.

Pro ComparisonTed Karras

Similar profile — undersized, limited-athleticism interior lineman who wins with anchor, toughness, and positional versatility (center/guard), projects as a quality backup who can develop into a competent starter in the right scheme. Karras lacked elite physical traits but carved out a long career through power, intelligence, and reliability.
