Skyler Thomas
Oregon State
Scouting Report

A two-year starter at strong safety who led Oregon State in tackles in consecutive seasons and served as a team captain, Thomas is a fill-the-box defender whose best work comes downhill against the run. He is a physical, high-effort player with good instincts to trigger against the run and solid enough size at 6-1/222, but the PFF grade of 65.6 in 2025 suggests inconsistencies on tape that the stat sheet doesn't fully capture — particularly in coverage. An ACL tear in 2023 is a medical red flag that teams will evaluate closely, and his production came in a diminished Pac-12 that went 2-10 in 2025. The floor here is a special teams contributor who competes for a roster spot; the ceiling is a backup box safety who can fill in on early downs.

Pro ComparisonMarquise Blair (career trajectory comp)

Physical, downhill safety from a Pac-12 school with limited coverage range and a medical history. Blair's career arc of backup/special teamer who flashed in run support but couldn't stick as a coverage player represents the most likely NFL outcome for Thomas's skill set.
